FHA hollow-shaft actuators are used in semiconductor manufacturing, specifically to drive a rotary table in a silicon wafer coating machine. The design allows pressure hoses to pass through the actuator's hollow shaft using a rotary feed-through. Ferro-fluidic couplings separate the vacuum chamber (coating process) from the external environment.
