Professor Jason Arday is a social commentator, presenter, and public speaker. He is currently the Professorial Chair of Education (Sociology of Education) at the University of Cambridge. He has previously held Professorial posts at the University of Glasgow and the University of Durham.
At three years old Jason was diagnosed with global development delay and autism spectrum disorder. He did not speak until he was eleven and could not read or write until he was eighteen years old. He funded his PhD by working part-time in Sainsbury’s and Boots whilst working full-time as a University Lecturer. His Professorial appointment in July 2021 at the University of Glasgow made him one of the youngest professors in the UK. In March 2023, he became the youngest-ever Black academic to hold a Professorship at Cambridge and one of the youngest academics ever to receive the title of Professor in Oxbridge’s history.
Jason is passionate about tailoring, guitar music and how music as a whole intersects with social justice, class and race. Outside of academia, Jason has been a prolific fundraiser and has raised over £5 million pounds for 80 national charities over an 18 year period, winning numerous prodigious fundraising awards. His fundraising achievements include running 30 marathons!

Dr. Emily Meadows (she/her) is an LGBTQ+ consultant specialized in international schools. In addition to her doctoral degree, Emily holds master’s degrees in both Sexual Health and Counseling, and has worked as an international school counselor for over a decade. She researches, publishes, and trains school communities on equitable policy and practice, while also teaching for the LGBT Health Policy & Practice graduate program at George Washington University. Having spent more than half of her life in international schools, Emily specializes in culturally-relevant solutions to promote equity and belonging worldwide.

Emily Ladau is a passionate disability rights activist, writer, storyteller, and digital communications consultant whose career began at the age of 10, when she appeared on several episodes of Sesame Street to educate children about her life with a physical disability. Her writing has been published in outlets including The New York Times, CNN, Vice, and HuffPost and her first book, Demystifying Disability, was published by Ten Speed Press, an imprint of Penguin Random House, in September 2021. Emily has spoken before numerous audiences, from the U.S. Department of Education to the United Nations. Central to all of Emily’s work is harnessing the power of storytelling to engage people in learning about disability.

JIS Hosts SENIA Local Chapter Conference |

On march 25th SENIA Indonesia welcomed over 65 people from 11 different schools and one international school to take part in the first Local Jakarta SENIA conference since COVID. The SENIA Indonesia committee sends a big thanks for all those who supported what we hope is first of many more local SENIA events. |
