Who will participate in Young Executive Leaders 2023? We're delighted to welcome this year's Young Executive Leaders. From 284 applications, 45 candidates from 30 countries and territories have been selected.
The programme will start in April and participants can look forward to masterclasses and group activities, building a network with international healthcare executives, and taking an active role in the World Hospital Congress in October in Lisbon.
Thanks to WittKieffer, who provide ongoing support for the curriculum and leadership development of the YEL programme, as well as Jackson Healthcare, Charlie Evans and the IHF’s Dr Kwang Tae Kim Trust Fund for offering sponsorship funding to enable participation from candidates in low and lower-middle income settings. |

| Catch up on our activities for International Women’s Day 2023
The IHF Women in Leadership Forum (WLF), sponsored by Alumni Global, launched a podcast for International Women’s Day. Focused on gender inequity in healthcare leadership, Lucy Clement (NHS, UK) sat down with Dr Sawsan Abdelrazig and Dr Pascale Anglade (Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi) to discuss the challenges and, more importantly, what we can all do to combat inequity in our workplaces. IHF members from around the world contributed videos and messages in support of gender equity in healthcare which had a wide reach on social media. The WLF ise working on a white paper which we hope will be published in July.

Key takeaways from 5th Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety
The 5th Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety took place in Montreux, Switzerland on 23-24 February under the theme “Less harm, better care: from resolution to implementation”. More than 600 experts and nearly 80 ministerial delegations got together to discuss concrete measures to be implemented to improve patient safety.
Attendees recognized the importance of the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030: Towards eliminating avoidable harm in healthcare recognizing implementation gaps and challenges and agreeing on the need of continue local, regional and international efforts to ensure effective and quality care for all.
Hosted by the Swiss President, Alain Berset, and with the participation of the WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, delegates were urged to invest on patient and health workforce safety.
The Summit was also the opportunity to endorse the “Montreux Charter on Patient Safety” highlighting the need to reach zero patient harm in healthcare and listing actions toward patient safety, medication safety, infection prevention AMR, etc. |

| Latest from International Geneva : IHF team visits CERN
The Knowledge Transfer team at CERN provided a fascinating tour of the site in Geneva this month. The IHF team learned about the potential applications of their research in hospitals and healthcare delivery. Examples include precision particle cancer treatments, as well as innovations in X-rays and scanning. |

Latest on our training and leadership development: Sustainability boot camp at ACHE Congress and NEVI masterclass on procurement
In March, the Geneva Sustainability Centre's faculty of experts led masterclasses in the US and Europe. The Centre's Director of Educational Progammes, Dr Edda Weimman, and Senior Leadership Development Advisor, Andy Garman led the Chicago session alongside industry expert, Seema Wadhwa of Kaiser Permanente. This boot camp took place on 19 March ahead of the 2023 ACHE Congress.
Procurement is a key area for sustainable healthcare. The Geneva Sustainability Centre is proud to partner with Nevi, Health Procurement Europe and the European Health Public Procurement Alliance on a training course to provide procurement experts in health with skills to address cost pressure, digitalization of procurement, sustainability in tenders, supplier relationship management and more.
