Getting active to promote healthy climate action
On 18 October, IHF and Geneva Sustainability Centre team members Ali Gray, Carmen Menendez, and Ronald Lavater successfully completed day one of the "Ride for their Lives" route. Departing from the United Nations headquarters in Geneva with cyclists from the World Health Organization (including Dr Diarmid Campbell-Lendrum: WHO’s Head of Climate Change and Health), and Geneva University Hospitals, the team made their way to the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) facilities in Aigle. They met with UCI President David Lappartient to discuss air pollution, climate action, and active travel.
This event sends a message to world leaders attending COP27 that planetary health and human health are connected and that health professionals are calling for climate action. |
