New hub for innovation comes to World Hospital Congress 2023
The application process in now open for the IHF's inaugural Innovation Hub: i-to-i from innovation to implementation.
The Hub, which will be part of the 46th World Hospital Congress in Lisbon, will showcase up to 15 companies providing innovative products that positively disrupt traditional practices in the delivery of hospital care outside the hospital setting.
The IHF will present the Hub in collaboration with the UK Department for Business and Trade, and Stanford Medicine. We are inviting IHF members to nominate companies or hospitals to exhibit cutting-edge products at the Hub. The deadline for applications is Tuesday 20 June 2023. |

YEL 2023: Masterclass in global cooperation
International Geneva is the world's largest hub of international organizations, NGOs, and permanent missions. In the second masterclass for the YEL 2023 programme, the young executive leaders heard from representatives of key international organizations about activities to improve health and healthcare delivery worldwide in humanitarian, innovation, and public health fields. Thanks to our guest presenters: Ana Elisa Barbar (ICRC), Alessandro Raimondo (CERN), and Prof. Bettina Borisch (WFPHA) for sharing their time and expert insights.

Meet the 2023 IHF Awards Committee Each year, the IHF Awards attract hundreds of entries across seven categories. Submissions are assessed by a panel of experienced global healthcare leaders serving on the IHF Awards Committee.
Meet the members of the Awards Committee who will use their expertise and knowledge of the healthcare industry to score each entry on its merits ahead of the Awards Ceremony at WHC2023.

Together with our full member, the Brazilian Hospital Federation, we look forward to welcoming hospital leaders from across the globe to Brazil in September 2024. Sustainability case study: Ashikaga Red Cross Hospital, Japan

| Spotlight on cyberattacks on healthcare Healthcare has become the number one target of cyberattacks, due to the life-and-death stakes of a hospital losing operational efficiency. On 9 May, the IHF’s Association Leaders Circle organized a virtual session on ‘protecting hospitals from cyber threats’ to discuss past instances and how to respond to future events. |

Keep up with the 76th World Health Assembly
From 21 to 30 May, this year’s World Health Assembly (the decision-making body of WHO) meets with the theme “WHO at 75: Saving lives, driving health for all”. The IHF Secretariat will participate in the sessions and issue joint statements on the topics of Universal Health Coverage and pandemic preparedness. Updates will be provided in the June newsletter. |

HIMSS23 European Health Conference & Exhibition takes place in Lisbon, Portugal from 7 to 9 June. Featuring knowledge, expertise and thought leadership in healthcare digitization, as well as a showcase of the latest innovative health technology solutions. And Dr Aoife Kirk from the Geneva Sustainability Centre will be speaking in a session on "Achieving Net-Zero Health Systems: what's working and what's not?"

Welcome to our new members! We are delighted to welcome 2 new associate #MembersMakeIHF. These organizations recently joined our network and successfully nominated participants in the YEL programme for 2023.
Becamex International Hospital, Vietnam. Created in 2016 with a scale of 1200 inpatient beds, it has 10 clinical departments and is designed, built, and operated according to the patient-centred principle.
Paelon Memorial Hospital, Nigeria, is a multi-specialist boutique hospital established in 2010. ‘Service with integrity’ is their motto, and they seek to provide safe, timely, evidence-based, and patient-centred healthcare. |

Highlights of IHF Governing Council’s mid-year meeting
The IHF Governing Council was invited to hold its May meeting in Japan, providing an opportunity to its global members to visit and exchange with Japanese hospital leaders, and discover world-leading sustainability initiatives. Some key outcomes from a successful meeting: - The IHF Constitution and Bylaws will be reviewed in 2023.

8 seats for Full Members on the Governing Council will be open for election this November.
- The election of a new President-Designate will take place at this year's General Assembly. Ms Deborah Bowen’s term as President ends in October and Dr Muna Tahlak will begin her term at the close of WHC2023.
- The IHF’s updated Global Healthcare Management Competency Model will be launched in June.
